"The major restoration of a 400 year old timber framed listed farmhouse that had not been occupied for more than 30 years is a daunting undertaking. The key to success is to appoint an experienced building contactor with a proven track record, who cares about the building and its heritage and who you can trust to do the right thing. Green Oak Construction

The demand for our skills in construction using a timber frame has led to us additionally offering our services in terms of new builds which will stand the test of time. Indeed we won an award from the Salisbury Civic Society in 2009 for a stunning new house which included the oak framed room pictured.

Green Oak is oak which has been used within a couple of years of felling. It is a master joiner’s building material of choice given that it is strong and durable as well as having a natural preservative which protects against rot and insect infestation.

Here we use our artisan skills to combine traditional techniques with contemporary design and construction methods. These result in structures supported by a timber frame that - given the right conditions - not only last longer than it has taken the tree to grow but can also outlive most kinds of stone used in construction.

This traditional material also ticks all the boxes in terms of sustainable living requirements since locally sourced green oak has minimal embodied energy compared to other primary building materials

Unlike many companies, our buildings are entirely oak framed not just the exterior timbers. We are able to provide

  • Complete house frames
  • Extensions
  • Conservatories
  • Dormer rooms
  • Car ports and garages
  • Summer houses
  • Workshops
  • Outbuildings
  • Home office buildings
  • Swimming pool enclosures
  • Commercial buildings
